Seven Excuses to Visit Barcelona

Barcelona is one of my favourite cities in the whole world. Four years ago I got engaged there and just last month I visited again, but this time with my husband and bump. I now feel it’s my duty to get you there too – it’s too amazing to keep to myself!

So if for some strange reason you (or your partner) need convincing…

Seven Reasons Why you Should Visit Barcelona

♥ Something for Everyone

It’s hard not to fall in love with this beautiful city. It has mountains, a beachfront, quirky neighbourhoods, contemporary architecture, super old buildings, street food, classy eats…basically Barcelona is perfect for every kind of traveller.

♥ It’s a Photographer’s Dream

All that eye-candy makes Barcelona an extremely photogenic city. It’s pointless putting your camera away because every corner brings a new reason to get snappy. From graffiti to impressive views, it’s the city that your lens will never tire of.

♥ Cheap Flights

Besides the opportunity to get some good Insta shots, you should also visit because it’s incredibly cheap to fly to the city from the UK. Budget airlines like Ryanair, easyJet and Monarch offer really affordable flights. If you plan it well, I’m talking less than £100 return.

♥ Fits in a Weekend

I could go on and on, but the next main reason to visit is because you can easily have an amazing time in the city even with just a weekend. That means it’s totally do-able without having to use your annual leave allowance. Do what I did last month and leave Friday evening and come back Sunday night. See, it fits in a weekend, just like this Spanish kitten fits in a handbag…

♥ Low Budget

If you’ve got tonnes of cash to burn, you’ll find the right spots in this city. If, however, you’re not feeling so flush, fear not. You can enjoy the beach for nothing, you can spend the afternoon strolling down Montjuic (one of my fave areas in the city) and you can easily get your Gaudi-fix without having to step inside any of the admission-fee zones. There ae plenty of other free things to do and see in Barcelona too.

♥ Coolness

Somehow the locals (and even the Spanish tourists) look effortlessly cool and stylish. Over in Barcelona the men pull off long hair better than some women I know! Even without make-up on, loads of the girls seem to pull off that boho babe look. They make me want to get my nose pierced again! Just last month I saw an adorable dad and son whizzing down the streets on their skateboards. Whether you’re single and fancy a good selection of hotties or you just fancy some style inspiration, it’s a legit excuse to visit. Honest.

♥ The Food

You’ll obviously find lots of delicious Spanish food in this city. The streets are full of tapas bars ranging from cheap as chips to fancy, expensive. As you’d expect you’ll also be able to get a good, healthy fix of authentic Sangria. However, in terms of food the main reason to visit this city is to experience the famous market, Boqueria. The atmosphere is amazing. Pick up freshly made juices and delicious snacks to enjoy on a picnic in the city. You’ll love it.

Could I have your suggestion for Euro100 + accommodations in old district – 3 star – not noisy?

Taylor Hearts Travel 4 years ago

I’m not too sure what Euro100+ accommodation is?

I stayed at Barcelo Raval when I went most recently and the time before that I stayed at Hotel Sagrada Familia, which was good. Hope that helps.

  • I love Barcelona! Man I miss those low budget airlines now that I’m back in America!

It’s hard not to love this city. It’s such a keeper!

Oh wow, I bet. At least there are lots of amazing places in the US that you can explore for a lot cheaper than I can!

  • It’s one place I’ve always wanted to go and never been despite it being so easy! I’ll book mark this for when I finally go!
    Lots of love,
