Looking for San Francisco bars with a view? You won’t get much better than the iconic Top of the Mark San Francisco.

Sip one of their signature martinis from the 19th floor of the InterContinental  Mark Hopkins Hotel.  You’ll be able to enjoy views of the San Francisco skyline, Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.

One of the Best San Francisco Bars With a View

With signature cocktails on the menu, it’s a place where you can easily spend a whole evening enjoying the atmosphere and 360-degree views.

Top of the Mark Cocktails

There is an extensive drinks menu, with cocktails starting from around $15USD. I highly recommend the Cucumber Elderflower Gimlet.

A glass of Prosecco will cost you $13USD and a glass of wine around $13USD.

Night Views

The twinkling lights of San Francisco shine brightly, letting you know the San Francisco skyline is there.

And lights glimmer from neighbouring apartments, letting you sneak a look at local life. Keep an eye out for fancy fashion shoots taking place on the roof terrace of the swanky penthouse. I couldn’t stop watching the poses.

Tip: Book a table so you can sit back and relax with a drink in hand.

Top of the Mark Events

Top of the Mark has a regularly changing events calendar. Sometimes there’s a live band in the bar. And as much as the views are easy on the eyes, the gentle jazz music from the live band is easy on the ears. The singers blend the slower tunes with the faster ones, getting the balance just right.

Couples take to the floor for an unexpected dance, unable to resist their favourite songs being played or getting swept up in the romance of the night. Others sit back with a slight smile on their face as they just let the mood of the night wash over them.

Tip: Jazz nights often take place, but they’re not every night and sometimes a Top of the Mark cover charge applies (usually around $10USD), so check ahead.

Dress Code

This is a grand place, offering the chance to get dressed up. Think heels and a black dress.

The Story

The elegance of this place and the jazz music can easily take you back in time. During the World War II, servicemen would buy and leave a bottle in the care of the bartender so that the next soldier from their squadron could enjoy a drink. The rule was that whoever had the last sip would buy the next bottle. It’s stories like this that really bring out the charm of Top of the Mark.
