Following on from my “Is it just me?” blog about my need to move to San Francisco, I thought I’d share some of the reasons why. I’m starting with the most important of them all – food. Here’s my top three foodie fixes that I’m going definitely going to try out:
♥ Foreign Cinema
It looks sooo cool; a canopy of fairy lights, high ceilings, gorgeous dark wood flooring. If the food tastes as good as the pictures look I’m going to be in gourmet heaven. One of the sections of the dinner menu is called Urban Picnic. Need I say any more? Actually, yes I must. Normally a complete an utter chocolate queen when it comes to deserts, their “apricot blackberry turnovers with huckleberry caramel and pistachios” sounds ah-may-zing and would definitely have a chance at stealing that desert crown. If that’s not enough, they have a cinema screen showing foreign and independent films. Sold!
I love Mexican food and this place sounds spot on. Everything is made from scratch, fresh every day. They use ingredients from their local family farm and they even have a dedicated vegetarian menu that’s not just limited to mushrooms (a pet hate of mine). Even better though, they have over sixty in house tequilas and mescals. We all know Mexicans love to party and this restaurant seems to be offering a lot of help to get its diners in the mood! Good job their food looks pretty damn filling.
♥ San Francisco Creamery Co:
This place is just a short drive from San Fran. I’m sure you’re sick of me talking about the Kitchen Sink ice cream challenge, but this amazing creation is totally on my “must try list”. It has great reviews and the desserts on its website look deliciously good. They do ice cream cakes (wow!), but the attention falls on the Kitchen Sink bad boy which has three sliced bananas, up to eight flavours of your choice of ice creams, eight servings of toppings, mounds and mounds of whipped cream, chopped toasted almonds and cherries. I scream, you scream, we all scream together – ICE CREAM! See you there.
I’m totally planning on keeping my eyes on the SF Street Food Festival too (high five for the night food market idea). It’s not just the food that makes me want to move there (though I could write masses about it, which might lead you to think otherwise). I’ll share some other reasons soon. I’m off to find some breakfast!!
P.S. If you have any recommendations please do let me know X
