Dream big because big dreams can come true. This very travel blog, Taylor Hearts Travel, is currently featured in the amazing magazine, Company. To see Taylor Hearts Travel on the pretty pages of a magazine that is read by thousands (me included) is just the one of the most ridiculously exciting, if not surreal, moments of this blog’s adventures.
How it Happened
Some time ago I read a Tweet explaining that Company was looking for bloggers to contribute to an article for their Summer High-Street Edit. They listed twelve destinations that they wanted recommendations and advice on. Being the travel addict that I am, I’d been to most of them. I was brimming with ideas and bursting with excitement at the thought of inspiring thousands of their readers.
I pulled together my best ideas (somehow condensed into the tiny word limit) and pinged off an email, complete with pretty beach photos. I managed to show some restraint (a little anyway) and gave my advice on not one, but three destinations; Rio (Brazil), Mexico and Goa (India). It seemed greedy not to share my insider knowledge. A little week later I found out that I’d been shortlisted and that my Rio piece was being put forward to the editors. A huge smile erupted and I jumped around my house, shaking my ass like I was one of those women in the Rio Carnival.
I was in beautiful Italy when I received the email and ended up having a late 2am finish after trying to navigate the crappy hotel wifi so that I could send over the extra information that was needed. After sending over some high res images and a few more details about my best beach beauty items, I waited. And waited. I tried crossing my fingers, not thinking about it, wishing it to happen…well just about everything. After what felt like an eternity I received an email to say not only was going to be published, but the magazine had already been printed and would be out the following week.
Re-living my adventures in Brazil, I tell you where you’ll find the best Brazilian beaches, what to drink (you can find a clue here) and importantly, the must-visit place to test out that drink. Just writing about it now makes me wish that I was sat on those lovely sands, cocktail in hand.
Aside from my dramatic journey to Ilha Grande (recap my awful experience here), I also recommend some time on the nearby island. Whilst the article is short and sweet, you can read more about this fun beach destination by reading my blog posts on Brazil (click here).
Setting eyes on the piece in the High-Street Edit was totally dreamy. It may only be a third of the page, but for Taylor Hearts Travel it is a landmark, a milestone, a star in a sky of many significant moments. When I first set up this blog nearly twelve months ago, I hoped that it would do big things. Being in Company Magazine is so unbelievably exciting.
