5. Good Loaf

Good Loaf. 1 Overstone Rd, Northampton NN1 3JL.

Local is celebrated at this spacious café. Artisan breads are made using ingredients from local flour mills, Northamptonshire family-run farms and other homely suppliers. The breads are used for a variety of sandwiches on the menu – the sourdough always gets my vote.

You’ll also find tempting treats on this top floor, light, lofty café. And if that’s not enough to persuade you to visit, this café is a social enterprise.

The team is made up of vulnerable local women, some on a voluntary basis, some paid and others on work placements. The intention is to break the cycle of poverty, unemployment and offending.
