I love my Panasonic LUMIX GX7, so it’s no surprise that the updated model, the LUMIX GX80, gets my vote. If you’re on the hunt for a stylish, lightweight camera that can capture top pics and videos on your travels this could well be the one for you.
The lovely LUMIX team invited me to a photography masterclass and post class pedibus ride round London where I’d get to test the GX80 out. I naively assumed that somebody would be pedalling round me the city so that I’d be able to put the camera through its paces (and perhaps have a cheeky rest from looking after my nine month old, Nova).
It turns out the GX80 needs more of challenge to really showcase all its amazing capabilities. Yes, we had a driver but we were to do allllll of the cycling. Although we weren’t whizzing through the streets at any great speed, it’s pretty hard to simultaneously pedal (especially in a skirt), hold on to the bar with one hand (or your hat in my case) and snap pictures. Well, the latter was made much easier by the GX80.
As I said, I adore my GX7 and use it for all my photos and videos, so I had no doubt that the newer model, the LUMIX GX80, would be amazing. The fact that most of these photos have been taken on the move, yet still remain crisp just shows how great it is. It’s mainly down to the 4K technology, post focus function, super fast auto focus and dual stabilisation, but more on those points in my upcoming review. All you need to really know is that the LUMIX GX80 is great for capturing those unmissable moments.
I’ll give you the low down, how, what and why in my review, but for now these shots that I captured while we were cycling round London should give you an idea of what the GX80 can do. Whether you’re in the market for a new camera or want some inspo for an upcoming trip to London, enjoy!
Pin for later…
