New Travel Plans: Four Stops in Two Months

Family travel

I LOVE maternity leave! I know it’s probably stating the obvious, but it’s so exciting that I can jet off wherever I like without having to request annual leave. In the next two months Jay, Nova and I are off on four different overseas adventures. So. Much. Excitement.

So the pay (or I guess serious lack of pay) is a bit of a downer, but if Jay received paternity leave for the same amount of time I’m pretty sure we’d be travelling for the entire time like this totally cool mama did. It’d be a bit unfair for me to whisk Nova away from his daddy for nine months, so for us, our set up works pretty well.

Celebrating my mini-explorer’s birthday by booking a new overseas adventure for us. Perfect excuse, right?!

I mean, yes, Jay’s annual leave allowance has been eaten up on these upcoming trips, but they’re exciting ones so we’re not going to grumble. It just means that we’ll have to be savvy with adventures later in the year, making the most of weekends and Bank Holidays (something that I have plenty of practice at!).

The Trips

First on the list is Jersey and it’s somewhere that I’ve wanted to visit for ages now. We’re staying in a gorgeously stylish hotel that seems to know what it’s doing when it comes to family travel. Yes, stylish family accommodation does exist *breathes a sigh of relief* and I’ll be sharing all the details soon.

A few of the ‘must-sees/dos’ won’t be open as we’re visiting just before they re-open for the summer, but if you have any recommendations please do share.

Shortly after we jet off to Mallorca for a week in a villa with my sister, my sister-in-law and their little ones. It’s going to be SO cute to have our three little boys playing in the sunshine together. There’s only a little age difference between them, so you can imagine how adorable (crazy!) it will be. You can expect a full review and nosy villa tour shortly afterwards.

We then escape to Greece for a bit more sunshine. We’re going to be sussing out a half board option in a chic, but super affordable hotel. We’re going to Corfu, which seems to get a bit neglected when it comes to praise. There’s more to it than you might think and I promise to spill all when I’m back.

Den Bosch, Netherlands, The Netherlands, Holland, Visit Amsterdam

And finally, the fourth trip will be our first long-haul one with Nova. I’m unbelievably excited because it will also be my first venture into Canada. Eeeeep, yes Canada! I’ve travelled round the world, but for some reason it’s taken over thirty years for me to get to this part of the world.

I’ve teamed up with KLM again. We’ll be flying to Edmonton in Alberta, exploring all that this beautiful destination has to offer. From river valley walks to snowy mountain tops and turquoise lakes, it looks like a dreamy postcard and I can’t wait to explore. We’ll be enjoying a few days in nearby Jasper National Park, which to be honest doesn’t even look real. How can somewhere be just SO pretty? I definitely need to see it to believe it!

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have this much to look forward to and even more so that I’ll have my two boys with me. There is so much of the world to see and I’m so excited that Nova gets to enjoy quite a bit of it already. What a mini-explorer, eh?!

Apart from Mallorca, these are all new destinations for me, so if you have any recommendations please do let me know. That said, it’s well over ten years since I visited Mallorca, so feel free to share any suggestions. And obviously, it’ll be Nova’s first long-haul trip so any tips will be much appreciated. X

These trips all sound fantastic! When you get to Canada, definitely look out for Tim Horton’s doughnuts. They’re very addictive! Also, everyone I know who’s been to Jasper National Park has raved about it – so photogenic. Have a great time!

Amazing! That’s almost more travel surely than you did BEFORE having a baby!! Canada sounds amaznig – I’d love to go one day. I went to Corfu and Majorca yonks ago but remember having just so much fun at both of them so it sounds absolutely perfect for breaks with family and friends :)

I’m so unbelievably excited to go! I’m not sure we’ll make it to Banff (if that’s the right Lake Louise), but hopefully the rest will be just as beautiful. x
