You’ll find the sleepy town of Cazals just a short drive from the touristy spot of Sarlat in France. You’ll know you’re there as you’ll be the only foreign tourist. Perfect for a holiday in France, don’t you think?
It’s a quaint and quiet spot that’s ideal for a morning stroll with the locals. Take a leisurely walk along the cobbles down any of the small streets that leave the main square. There’s just a handful of small shops, including the most adorable shop window. Ever. In keeping with the many sunflower fields you’ll see in this part of France, it’s a real sweetie of a shop front.
Second place goes to this cute one…
If you’re staying nearby I’d recommend popping by Cazals for an hour or so. If you’re staying further afield it might not be worth the journey. There are no major landmarks to check out. Instead it’s a place to absorb local life. Buy some freshly made bread from the bakery and test out your language skills.
Walk past the allotments and eye up the best patches.
Pick out your French window shutters. Simply ease back and enjoy Cazals.
When you’re done head south of the town and walk past the agricultural warehouse. It’s been wrapped in nature’s leafy arms.
After five or ten minutes you’ll come to the lake. You can walk around it, but sitting on the bench and getting lost in your own thoughts is a pretty good activity too. It’s so peaceful that you’ll probably start nodding off.
